Wedding Wednesday {THE Dress}

Alright lovelies, despite my best intentions to drag out the wedding dress search (and try on as many as I could because who doesn't love adult dress up!) it was all much easier than I expected.

After working my way through only 3 Seattle bridal stores, at my final stop, the exquiestly edited and exceptionally gracious Bridal Garden, I stumbled up it. 

THE dress. The one that made me jump up and down and squeal and giggle and all my friends sigh and say oh wow. 

Now, as much as I trust my wonderful husband-to-be, who promised he wouldn't peak until I was ready to reveal the entire look, I'm going to play it safe and tease you with only a small taste until everything is put together. It all comes down to three simple words.

Organza.

Tulle.

Lace.

I'll also give you a few hints about the overall silhouette.

Seasonal Colorboard

I noticed today that the leaves have started to turn shades of golden yellow, burnt orange and soft siena. I bid a fond farewell to summer and am excited to embrace the beautiful oranges of fall.

Monday Work Wear

With warm weather continuing to linger, this week I'm in the mood for good transition pieces - just the right color, just the right silhouette, and the perfect hint of summer days.

Ok girls, the moment is here. Tomorrow, for the first time in my life, I will try on a wedding dress. Probably 50 of them actually since I don't really know what I'm looking for.

Pressing Pause

I wouldn't consider this blog your primary source for all things serious but this week I got a major reminder of the importance of the little things in life that I feel compelled to share.

Apologies in advance if this is a little too Hallmark card for your tastes.

We plan and routinize in an attempt to rest control from what is really a chaotic and unpredictable world. As the days, weeks and months fly past it often becomes hard to discern one moment from another. 

The weight of regret or past transgressions swivel our heads to the past, leaving us to stumble through the present, and blind to what the future might having waiting for us just around the bend.

It often takes a shock to the system to get you looking straight ahead and remind you to marvel at what is right before you - all the glorious parts of your day and life that are within arms reach. I encourage you to pull it all in close, hug it tightly and say thanks for everything precious in you life.

Hit pause today. It's completely different than the world was yesterday and will be impossible to replicate tomorrow. I find peace in that thought and I thought you might too.

Jetsetting Design

Among all the other fun wedding decisions to made, where to go on a honeymoon is probably the coolest - especially being the travel addict that I am. 

For the final decision I may be reduced to simply closing my eyes and spinning a globe but these interiors by Ditte Isager are setting the wheels turning.

How about an escape to rustic Tuscan village.

A weekend in Paris perhaps?

A looooong getaway to a Greek island would also suffice. 

I think I need a vacation!

Wedding Wednesday {Fantasy Wardrobe}

This weekend marks one of the greatest moments of being engaged - wedding dress shopping! I'm attempting to dip my toe in the wedding gown water for the first go-round, but I worry I'm at risk of suffering from chocolate chip cookie syndrome - once you start you can't stop!

I don't have a specific vision of the perfect  gown but I've certainly been banking inspiration. There are some key design elements that I have my eye on, like pockets, fabulous details, and soft draping - the look does have to be beach appropriate after all.

I Gotta Wear Shades

I know my {monday work wear post} was dedicated to fall, but it's so hot today - highs are going to 88 degrees. In Seattle. In September! It's like fantasy land.

That's why I'm daydreaming about lounging here,
