Happy {Temperate} Weekend

The weather gods are finally playing nice.

So I'm going out to play without wilting. Woohoo!

Happy weekend all.

Moody Blues

The heat has got a lot of people cranky around here. At least these blues are cooling me down.

It's like diving into a ocean of decor.

I'm Melting...

Two things I love are summer and heat but this is getting out of control. To date there are only 5 days on record of 100+ degree weather in Seattle and now we're getting them back to back to back.

I'm going to go sit in a tub of ice until this subsides, which isn't particularly laptop friendly.

Until I return, I highly recommend entertaining yourself with jane.bird's flickr set. I've already spent hours there - trust me, it's well worth the investment.

I Can't, I Won't

But I wanna buy this gorgeous Rachel Roy dress on sale at Gilt. It would be just the thing to get me through August wedding season.

By the way, if you care to join Gilt to partake in the amazing designer discounts, please do so here.

Hot Hot Heat

It's going to be 100 degrees in Seattle today (and almost no one has air conditioning - not my house, not my work, not my car). I give up.

All I want to do is sit around in my underwear and pour ice water over my head. Although if my unmentionables looked as nice as these, I'd probably refrain.

My office is pretty casual, but I suspect I'd be crossing a line.

Hope you're staying cool!

Shoes to House

You could be fashionable and color coordinated anywhere in this house, with either of these shoes.

I'd have such happy feet if I lived there.

I'm Loving....

A rockin' inspiration board from Siwy denim.

Their fall 2009 collection is very fun too!

Monday Work Wear

This week I'm feeling the need for a little prep in my step. I think this will do quite nicely for the ladies...

And I've had a few requests for ideas for the boys. These should do well in the heat.

Happy Monday!

Happy {Party-Time} Weekend

I'm off to San Francisco for my sister's bachelorette party this weekend. We'll be doing a little wine tasting, eating and generally partying down.

I only hope we have this much fun!

Hope you have a jazzy weekend!

Wedding Wedges

As my summer of weddings progresses, the next wave are all outdoors in fields or farms or lawns. Lovely and fun venues for sure but they make footwear a significant challenge. Who knew it would be so difficult to find a wedding-appropriate wedge, but it is certainly a trying task.

The only contender I've come across thus far is the Aphrodite wedge by Alexandra Neel.

It hits all the major requirements -- narrow heel, demure look, subtle color and a funky detail.

I'd pair it with this little number from 3.1 Phillip Lim and be good to go.

Fashion fantasy, I know, but a girl can dream. Back to my wedge hunt now.

Book Worms Unite

There's nothing better on a long summer afternoon than sitting back with a good book.

Sara Jane of where the sidewalk begins asked some of her favorite bloggers what they're reading this summer (including me!) and the list is full of great page turners. Check it out here

Joanna asked the same question yesterday and got over 100 responses! Take a look and let me know if we're missing a must read title.

I'm loving...

Delightful stripes,

in summery shades. There is a lot more where those came from at MiME Vintage. And really affordable to boot so you better get going while the sun is still hot!

Summer Treats in the Summer Heat

I rarely post about food in my little alternate universe that is Apt#34, but I will out myself now as a total foodie because I cannot resist sharing the deliciousness from Sunday Suppers.

As the temperatures continue to climb in Seattle (90's by the weekend!) and I start to feel my brain cells boil the yummy delights, from cardamon sugared peaches and cream to citrus time water, look like pure heaven.

What is your favorite summer treat?

Styling Your Stuff

I don't know about you, but I am a person with stuff. Probably too much stuff, but it's there nonetheless and I find it to be a constant struggle to figure out how to make it all look good.

Coming up with a stylish arrangement of childhood treasures, collected beach stones, my magazine collection and mismatched art is my holy grail of interior design. At least there are plenty of good examples out there for inspiration...

Happy arranging (and rearranging!)
