It's My Party!

Dearies - I can't believe it. Life has been so busy that I missed the first birthday of this little blog!

photo by emma lee via simplesong

A year ago last week I made my very first post here - I love that I can look back and see how the blog has captured all that I've experienced since. It certainly has flown by. I wish I could have you all over and share some sweet treats with me!

Be sure to come back later today to meet Apt #34's first feature sponsor - a fitting birthday present, don't you agree.

Seeing Pink

I thought I'd share some bubble-icious fantasy images to sweeten your Monday afternoon.

Something about pink always makes me smile. My new blog crush Rockstar Diaries, where I stumbled on those adorable umbrella images, does too. Be sure to check her out - rockstar indeed!

Uber-Cool

I've always loved old apothecary chests and card catalogs or the like. This is by far the coolest use I've seen of one yet!

Grace, founder of Poetic Home, knows how to do something amazing things with vintage finds and she put this beautiful card catalog to use as a makeshift bookshelf. Loving it!

Here are some other great pieces from Poetic Home.  How amazing is that lamp and the old school-room chairs (I have one of my very own from the Restore in Seattle - if you live nearby and haven't been yet, go now!) Those fans are also making me swoon.

I think the right shot of vintage pumps interest into any room. Grace has inspired me to do some serious scouring of ebay and etsy. Are you a serious vintage shopper?

What to Wear to Sunday Brunch

Nothing is better on Sunday morning that good food and a good mimosa among friends. If you're having trouble finding that perfect dress look no further. The brilliant online boutique Sunday Brunch has you covered.

Their perfectly edited site has all the best pieces from Lorick, Heidi Merrick, and Kloset and I adore their ethos - slow down and dress up! They make it easy like Sunday morning.

Happy Sunday all!

Weekend Style (e) Scapes

This week has been a crazy one for me, but madame Cassandra seems to have put even more work into her style (e)scapes series on deskscapes. Today I shared a few of my favorite office-elements on coco+kelley that I will implement when I get my corner office with the great view...

For now, I will focus on a view that looks like this.

Next week I will return relaxed (hopefully) and ready to share more great fashion, a new twist on a "destination" wedding, some great vintage finds and a profile of Apt #34's first feature sponsor!

In the meantime, happy weekend my dears!

The Doctor Is In

Operations is a beautifully constructed line of jackets, coats, sweet dresses and I must say the most perfect blazer I've seen this season.

Known for their meticulous attention to detail, the Operations trench coat above is not only navy (woohoo for blue!) and features that stunning leather belt, the underside of the collar also has that yummy chocolate leather  and there are hidden pops of red in the lining and cuffs.

Operations has stores in SoHo and the Meatpacking District (New Yorkers go now!) but the local boutique Polite Society is the only store in Washington state that carries the line - and just so happens to sit directly under my office. I can attest that every piece looks even better in person because I've been going in to drool on a daily basis!

Loving Le Love

It's been a tough week and there's just bit more to get through but this made me smile and feel better so I thought I'd share.

I promise if you do.

The Right Style {Today}

Fellow Seattle-based blogger Alek of From the Right Bank to the Left Coast recently offered up a challenge - pick one picture that sums up my style. Just one! Is she nuts? I'm the girl with so many shoes I can't openly admit to the number.  My favorite looks change almost daily. But I will do my best to complete the task set before me.

Today I pick this stunning room designed by Ashe + Leandro interior designers  because it combines all of the design elements I'm currently coveting. I love the bright white of course, not to mention the beamed ceiling. All the clean lines speak to my distaste for clutter. Then you add in the little pops of color, a wonderfully textured rug and unexpected pieces like the vintage lamp, candelabra and fun glass-topped table. It's classic and personal all at the same time. Definitely something to aspire to.

Thanks for the challenge Alek and now I pass it on - to Lynne at Tea for Joy, Kirsten of Simply Grove, Jen at Made by Girl, Paula at Two Ellie and dearest Cassandra of coco+kelley. Tag, you're it ladies!

Go Dawgs

My Huskies may have lost in the tourney (Sweet 16 starts tomorrow!) but I'm still loving the purple and gold in this room.

I'm a sucker for a natural wood coffee table after having grown up with them all over my house and we're seeing those yummy rugs everywhere. As soon as I get my hard wood floors one will be mine!

Pooped

I want to will myself to blog today but I expended all my energy just getting out of bed.

I promise to return as soon as I'm feeling a bit perkier. In the meantime check out some fun finds here, here and here

Passion for International Fashion

Just spotted this rockin' line from Singapore called alldressedup - the name says it all!

Lots of layers, poppy colors and quirky sky-high heels? I'm in!

Well Outfitted

via simple lovely

Cassandra is the Rooms from the Runway queen, but this look and this room are a match made in heaven so I just had to share. The lovely look is from Urban Renewal - the vintage portion of Urban Outfitters (does anyone remember when Urban Outfitters was nothing but secondhand??) I love the buttery brown leather skirt combined with the ruffled sleeve of the tee - feminine - with an edge. Just how I like it.

Lili Diallo's room combines all my favorite elements - natural furniture, awesome light fixtures, pops of color - did you spot that wallpaper and single bulb chandelier in the dinning room? It just leaves me wanting more.

Flower Girl

Spring florals, while I appreciate them, have never really been my thing, but this is a flowery look I might actually wear.

The hard edge provided by all the black (not to mention the killer Givenchy bag) tones down the flower-power and takes away the priss. This might be the perfect way to inject some much-needed color into my wardrobe!

Looky-Loo

I have a growing addiction to lookbooks. What was once a tool that only fashion insiders got to see, lookbooks are going mainstream.

My love for Hayden-Harnett is well-documented, but this pic from their FW2009 lookbook has me coveting more than just their fabulous bags

Loeffler Randall has achieved shoe-perfection, but they've tapped into my love for orange and I suddenly feel the need to empty spots in my closet to make way for their fall '09 wardrobe. More gorgeous pics from their lookbook here!

You can look stunning and set your conscious at ease with the Christina dress from Sublet Clothing. They use sustainable materials and fair labor practices to make their simple and sweet ensembles.

Putting fashion in context makes it so mouth watering. It's the perfect combination of fashion and art. If there's a career in lookbook design - I want in!

Happy [Spring] Weekend!

Mother nature may have missed the memo, but it is the first day of spring and I couldn't be happier. This is going to be my theme song for the weekend.

photos by max wanger

I'd love to spend the weekend relaxing on the coast with my honey like this great engagement session by the brillant Max Wanger depicts.

Hope you have a groovy first day of spring and great weekend!

Sumptuous

I'm on my light and bright decor kick, but these bathrooms could very well get me to swing the other way.

I don't think I could live with dark interiors long-term, but I could handle a luscious sanctuary like these, couldn't you?

3.18.2009

Off-White

I may be craving color for my wardrobe, but I'm still drawn to a clean pallette at home.

rooms via simplygrove and anita kaushal

These rooms are great examples of the perfect mix of textures and eras - a classic fireplace, mirror and candle stickes next to a modern buffet - stunning. Or a modern light fixture in a barn-like space. Unexpected elements and a single pop of color  help keep the neutral base seem exciting and new.

Just Because

This wedding shot is so freakin' great. Imagine it blown up big and hanging above your living room couch. It's like you're starring in your own pop art.

I love it.

Today I'm lovin...

Bright pink shoes (are you sensing a trend...)

They're making me smile at the end of a looong day. Thanks Anthropologie.
